Real Madrid Crowned Champions of Europe
Borussia Dortmund's valiant run ends in defeat
Madrid secure record-extending 15th title
Real Madrid have claimed their 15th UEFA Champions League title after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Saturday's final at Wembley Stadium.
The Spanish giants, who last lifted the trophy in 2022, dominated possession throughout the match and created several clear-cut chances. Dortmund, making their first Champions League final appearance since 1997, put up a spirited fight but ultimately could not match Real Madrid's quality.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the 55th minute, with a clinical finish from inside the area. Vinicius Jr. sealed the victory ten minutes later with a stunning solo effort, leaving Dortmund's defense helpless.
Dortmund had their moments in the match, but they were unable to find a way past Real Madrid's resolute defense. The German club's best chance fell to Erling Haaland in the second half, but the Norwegian striker's header was brilliantly saved by Thibaut Courtois.
Real Madrid's victory extends their record as the most successful club in the history of the Champions League. They have now won the trophy 15 times, seven more than their nearest rivals AC Milan.
