Former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows' Georgia Case Remains in State Court

Federal Judge Denies Meadows' Motion to Move Case

Indictment for Election Interference

Mark Meadows, former White House Chief of Staff under President Donald Trump, has been indicted by an Arizona grand jury in connection with an election interference case. The indictment also names Rudy Giuliani and 16 others as defendants.

Meadows had filed a motion to have his Georgia election interference charges moved from state court to federal court. However, Judge Amy Totenberg Jones of the Northern District of Georgia denied the motion. This means that Meadows will continue to face prosecution in state court for his alleged role in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

The prosecution alleges that Meadows pressured Georgia officials to change the results of the election, including by falsely claiming that widespread voter fraud had occurred. Meadows has denied these allegations.

Meadows Appeals Denial

Following the denial of his motion, Meadows has filed a notice of appeal to the US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. In his appeal, Meadows argues that the charges against him are politically motivated and that he should not be prosecuted in state court.

The outcome of Meadows' appeal is uncertain. However, the denial of his motion to move the case to federal court is a significant setback for his defense.
